MR PRESIDENT WHY??????? (an open letter to President Goodluck Jonathan)

Is it that you don't want to wave at me???

Mr. President!
WHY?????

Mr. President, why????


This was one of the reasons why I didn't initially accept your candidature.
Why will you as a the president of the Federal Republic of Nigeria allow yourself to be smuggled over the heads of the people of Enyimba City by a few to a corner thereby denying you the opportunity to meet with and interact with the people who you claim to be leading.

To me this is unacceptable, there must be change. When you were Vice-president you were always seen around but, after you made those lofty promises you made during your "I have no shoes campaign"... ele way?... no one has seen you in the city.

We heard the other day that you were coming to the God's own state, we were all hoping to receive you only for you to end up in the state capital, we let you know our grievances and later pardoned you because we know our city is really wonderful to receive you at that time.

Then, came another news everywhere that you will be visiting us, the city went agog, everyone got set to meet with you, our loving president, our amiable and trustworthy president. We all ironed our clothes and brought out umbrellas in solidarity only for us to receive the unheard news...

BUT, IT IS NOW INVITES ONLY.....what????

Who changed the venue? what necessitated the change???

and why will our president come to a city as big and important as Aba is and only those with invitations can get to see him???

I sensed that this will happen when three days ago, I saw some persons cleaning the Ikot-Ekpene axis of Ogbor-Hill, at first I didn't know it was in preparation of your coming. I had thought it was just one of the candidates vying for one political post or the other doing that. But, today, I learnt that it was a laudable initiative of our "Legacy Governor".

When, yesterday, I heard on P and P (a political programme of Magic FM anchored by Big Bonny and Odochi Anaesthesia) that you will be visiting, I took my time and visited the Enyimba stadium, the proposed venue of your visit, but, it was not in a manner showing you will actually be hosted there. That was when I became curious. And on the D-day, I was no longer curious but...(I lack words).


Mr. president, just in case you haven't known, the city of Aba is the nerve of the south-east although many will want to argue this.

History has proved this overtime, the popular women riot of 1929 was organised by Aba women.

Aba is fondly called the "Japan of Africa", why???, because it is an international city (until when a few came on board and decided to wage war against the city, but, Aba will rise again).

The elephant is the strongest animal

Aba is called Enyimba, that is "the people's elephant"... because, the city is a leader-city when it comes to Nigerian politics. Just as the Elephant, Aba city is not a city to be toyed with, no one jokes with Aba (except a few who have to throw stones from afar).

Even you, the Commander-in-chief of the armed forces must come in to the city to meet with a selected few, why did you have to fly over our heads into the city??? why???

Is it because you didn't want to ride on the sambisa roads we ply daily. You didn't want to ply the Port-Harcourt road which in 2011 you promised will be a done deal before now.

Is it because somebody doesn't want you to see his failures in the area of infrastructural development in the state???

Or is it that you were told you will be rained pure-water by the boys in the hood??? (but, to the best of my knowledge,it is not everyone that gets that treatment o, I go out everyday and no one has ever done that, but I only know of one person that gets it always.. an irony of sort , though)
Is it because someone didn't want to be viewed as being persona non grata in the city???

Mr. President, why??

Why did you allow yourself to be dragged into a feud you knew nothing about and you are not a party to.

Mr. President why???
why did you allow yourself to be presented to the people as insensitive???

This act of yours, mr president is totally unacceptable to us, especially in a democratic state as ours.

That act alone is enough to deny you the votes of the great people of Aba... because, it is an insult to us.
So, mr president, blame yourself if at the release of the results you are tied or you lose out to the opposition in the city... because, this act was a miscarriage to the pregnancy you have been nurturing for so long.
