LIVING FAITH CHURCH FINALLY SPEAKS ON PRESIDENT JONATHAN'S VISIT TO CANAANLAND

Bishop Oyedepo with wife Pst. Faith and President Jonathan

President Goodluck addressing the congregation

The social media has been abuzz with reports of the  Sunday 25th January, 2015 visit of President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan to the World Headquarters of the Living Faith Church, Canaanland, Ota, Ogun State.

One of such reports which has remained the buzz on the media has it that Bishop David Oyedepo had said that he will open the gates of hell against anyone who opposes President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan's re-election bid.

Information gathered by TEAM VICSSIE has it that the leadership of the church has finally come out to make known its position on the issue.

Below is an official statement, signed by the Resident Pastor of Faith Tabernacle, Canaanland, Pst. Ntia Ubong (see pix) which was made public to newsmen at Canaanland yesterday and was obtained by CENTUPOET a member of TEAM VICSSIE

ON PRESIDENT GOODLUCK JONATHAN’S VISIT TO THE WORLD HEADQUARTERS OF
THE LIVING FAITH CHURCH
 (A.K.A WINNERS’ CHAPEL INTERNATIONAL),
 CANAANLAND, OTA

What Bishop David Oyedepo Said And What He Did Not Say

THE ISSUE AT STAKE
For over a week now, the news and social media have been abuzz with certain rumours, insinuations and misinformation, concerning the January 25, 2015 visit of His Excellency, President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, to the Faith Tabernacle in Canaan Land, Ota, Ogun State, (world headquarters of the Living Faith Church World-wide, a.k.a. Winners’ Chapel International). The information, which portrayed an open declaration for the candidacy of the President by a prayer-call directed at the political opposition of the President, is not only FAR FROM THE THRUTH, but is also intended to cause misrepresentation, mischief, rancour and malice in the Body of Christ, with the view to denting the image of the revered and highly respected God’s Servant, Bishop David Oyedepo; as well as to create confusion in the polity.

Let it be clearly stated that, Bishop is first and foremost a Man of God and he remains one; and like the Bible implores in 1 Timothy 2:1-2, he can only accommodate all persons of different political backgrounds and inclinations, particularly leaders for whom the Bible has instructed that spiritual intercessions be made. run an open-door policy towards political leaders with the view to interceding on their behalf.
The event of Sunday, January 25, 2015, in which President Jonathan visited the Church, was obviously not out of place.
But for the records, the following represents the sequence of what happened:

PRESIDENT JONATHAN’S VISIT OF 25/01/15
The President and his entourage arrived Canaanland (Faith Tabernacle) for the Third Service about 9. 30a.m. He and his team were ushered in and asked to occupy the front seats alongside the Resident Pastor and other senior pastors. Thereafter, in honour of the President, Bishop Oyedepo invited President Jonathan to “bring a word of greeting” to the congregation.

President Jonathan spent approximately six minutes in his address, clearly stating that he would be careful not to sound political so that his visit and intentions would not be construed as a 'campaign.' In his brief speech, he adulated the Ministry and person of Bishop for the mighty works of faith, prayer for Nigeria and educational milestones the Living Faith Church has engendered for national development. He then expressed his belief that the elections of 2015 would go peacefully, while also asking for the people of God to pray more.

The President neither covertly asked for votes, nor overtly impressed the congregation with any unsolicited advertorial to win their “electoral” minds. In sum, we understood the visit as one in his capacity as President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, and not as a presidential candidate of any political party.
For verification, the President’s address and the entire Third Service are on YouTube, unedited; you can please access it here: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=fxvfZgUrPms

BISHOP OYEDEPO’S RESPONSE (WHAT HE SAID)
BISHOP OYEDEPO praying for President Jonathan

The Bishop mounted the altar, disclosing to the entire congregation that he received on a very short notice, information of the President’s visit. These were his words:
I only had an idea of the President’s visit just yesterday morning. The information was not there last Friday when we had the One Night with the King. So, we are going to be praying for our President. Let prayers and supplications and intercessions be made for all men; first of all, for kings, and for them that are in authority, that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty.

He thereafter performed two quick tasks: praying for the nation as well as the President of the nation, in line with Biblical instruction of 1 Timothy 2:1-2 viz:
I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men; For kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty.
Bishop Oyedepo did not call the President to the altar for any special cleansing or deliverance. President Jonathan along with his entourage, like the rest of the congregation, was upstanding, and prayers were made for him and all those in authority, and the nation.
Reading from Numbers 6: 23-26, which says, “On this wise shall ye bless the children of Israel, saying: The Lord bless thee and keep thee; the Lord make His face to shine upon thee, and be gracious unto thee: The Lord lift His countenance upon thee and give thee peace”, Bishop said it was mandatory for priests to proclaim blessings over the President “and the blessings will answer, in the Name of Jesus”. (Watch the rest of the exhortation on YouTube:https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=fxvfZgUrPms)

Bishop Oyedepo proceeded thus:
I like us to be on our feet and lift the President up to God. Whatever you desire to see God bring about in his life; bring about in our nation; begin to pray that prayer right now. Father, release your grace upon the President to match the demands of his office. Release unusual grace in increasing dimensions, to match the demands of his office. Cause your face to shine upon him. Lord, grant the desires of his heart. Grant Nigeria peace! Under him, grant Nigeria greater advancement. Thank you, Father; in Jesus’ Name we pray”!!
Bishop Oyedepo then closed the prayer thus:
This entire Church proclaims the President blessed today; blessed with divine wisdom to match the demands of his office; blessed with peace to see the miraculous in his life; blessed with grace that will advance His (God’s) cause on our nation”. Every time we pray here, God hears. The Bible says wherever two or three are gathered, I’m there in their midst, and if we agree concerning anything, it is done for us. Therefore, in the Name of Jesus, our President is declared blessed. His going out is blessed; his coming in is blessed. The will of God is blessed in his life. Thank you father; blessed be your Name; in Jesus’ precious Name!!
And the congregation responded loudly, “AMEN!”

WHAT THE BISHOP DID NOT SAY
Therefore, there was NO WHERE, nor was there any time the following prayer or words were uttered by the Church or Bishop: “I will open the gates of hell to anyone who opposes you”, or “I will open the gates of hell to anyone who opposes the peace of this nation.”

THIS IS FAR FROM THE TRUTH!

It is pertinent to note the following:
1.      The word, “hell” was no where mentioned
2.      The phrase “gates of hell”, is clearly absent
3.      “Opposition” or “oppose” or “oppose you” cannot be found
4.      “I will open” or “I will” is far-fetched

Our Position as a Church of God
It is our duty as a House of the Most High God to follow His instructions and to do what He has sent us to do. According to scriptures, one of the vital tasks of the church is to seek the peace of our nation of abode through prayers and intercessions for a godly, stable, peaceful and prosperous nation.
As believers, we are called to pray for the leaders, the people and the nation. This is what we have done.
It is benumbing as it is incomprehensible, therefore, that the imputation of “I will open the gates of hell to anyone who opposes you”, in a message that was attended by over 40, 000 people and which was in the full glare of the world on the Ministry’s website and YouTube, can be accepted wholesale and proliferated on social and mainstream media without recourse to ascertaining the veracity or authenticity. Those imported words were probably for political profiteering and attention patronage by bloggers. Whatever the intention was, may Almighty God forgive the perpetrators.
We consider the mischievous imputation and its uncritical acceptance as the handiwork of those who had been seeking a veritable point to strike and injure the integrity of our Church, and they found the President’s visit during this season of elections as the right point to make an attempt to drag our hard-earned image in the mud. Those words were the machination of negatively fecund and wild imagination and can therefore NOT STAND AS THE TRUTH!

Our Church of over 33 years has been a sanctuary for all peoples with no prejudice to colour, race, ethnicity, and social or political persuasion; and has opened its doors as a place of refuge and repentance for all people. We stand for righteousness and cherish our integrity.
We pray for a righteous leadership and a peaceful nation. May the coming elections bring a peaceable solution to our challenges as a nation and may the Hand of God continue to be upon our nation for good! May He heal our beloved nation. Amen!!
Jesus is Lord!!!

THE MARCH

They marched tirelessly
knowing fully well
that there can never be
a second death after a first, nor
will there be a second march
against the tyrant
against the self-imposed leader
against the sit-tight leader

who thinks that leadership
is a virtue found only
within his family
and must do everything to keep it so
even if it requires the lives of others
who to him are but "commoners"

With thunderous shouts
and countless placards
they keep trooping
they keep marching
they keep shouting

"enough is enough!"
"leave us alone!"
"go home and rest!"
"we are tired of you!"
"we have endured enough!"

Even the blockade
by the men in khaki
equipped to the tooth
who are ever ready to spit fire
from their black metals
at the slightest order to do so

yet, they were not moved
yet, they were not threatened
and without arms but their arms
and without ammunition
but their coordination
they advanced

like the tale of the fly
following the corpse to its
six-foot residential palace
they surged
they charged forward

not wanting to surrender
not thinking of a retreat
even as they fell one atop another
harmlessly
without protests to their deaths

reassured that they die good deaths
the heroic deaths,
death in exchange for future deaths
dying to create hope
where it does not exist,
dying to bring a change
that the future...
yes! that the future needs
dying to buy that future
for their unborn
who as they've been told
are the leaders of tomorrow...

MY LADY EXPERIENCE...a lesson grandma taught me

Take this clothe
 put it on
and let me see
how it fits you

"No", I told her,
"its but a lady's wear",
"yes", I know
she said to me

so, I took it from her
not willingly, rather hesitantly
and into it I went
She held the mirror before me

and the reflection I saw
left my mouth agape
for it was not mine
but that of a lady

"wow!" she shouted,
you look beautiful
"choi!", I screamed
but for the use of "beautiful"

she smiled and
with her hands on my back
her eyes dearly piercing
my two little eyes

"son", you can be whatever
and anything you want to be
only think of it, see it
and put yourself into it.

MY HEART HAS FOUND A HOME (...written for team Vicssie by Centupoet )

My heart has found a home
 it no longer feels alone
as I now feel at home
any time your thought crosses my heart
even I be in the bath
 or laid on a mat

my heart has found a home
and I pray it remains so forever

 forever?
 Yes! Forever
for no one prays for another home
when he feels at home at a home
 until home changes

 but,till then
I'd cherish my heart's found home
for truly, there's no place like home.

GOD'S VIEW ABOUT DIVORCE

...written by Pst. Faith A. Oyedepo.

What is divorce?
Divorce is a practice whereby married couples decide to be separated in a bid to discontinue or put an abrupt end to their marriage, even while both of them are still alive. Some even drag their spouses to the court of law to get a legal backing, in order to disengage from a marriage that has been contracted.
From the beginning, it was not so. God did not create the woman, Eve, with the intention to be separated from Adam later in the future. She was made out of Adam’s ribs and was meant to be a part of him forever, since it was not mentioned for how long she was to be his helpmate, and vice versa.
Unfortunately, Satan the devil crept into the garden when man was not watchful, sin followed and death was the penalty for sin: Ezek 18:20 The soul that sinneth , it shall die. The son shall not bear the iniquity of the father, neither shall the father bear the iniquity of the son: the righteousness of the righteous shall be upon him, and the wickedness of the wicked shall be upon him. Today, we can see a lot more complications in homes, whereby disagreements of all manners degenerate so fast leading to permanent separation and divorce. Divorce has since become a major cancer ravaging several homes today, thus the need for you to arise and contend for the peace of your family.

Why Divorce?
Sin in its nature cannot, and never will yield positive results. So, when man fell in the Garden of Eden, one of the weapons the devil introduced so as to go against God’s initial plan of family unity is the tool of divorce. Don’t forget that a family where unity is rooted has the strength and full capacity to conquer the challenges of life.
No wonder Jesus laid emphasis on the importance of unity, in John 17:21-22 That they all may be one ; as thou, Father, art in me, and I in thee, that they also may be one in us: that the world may believe that thou hast sent me. And the glory which thou gavest me I have given them; that they may be one, even as we are one.
Anytime the thought of divorce permeates your heart, discard it like a waste; give no room to the devil in your marriage. You are more than a conqueror; the curse of sin no longer has dominion over your family. No matter the condition, God is still on the throne. All you need to do is to go back to Him in prayers, ask the Holy Spirit to direct you on the steps to take so peace can reign in your heart and home. I encourage you never to give in to the pressure of divorce; there is no situation too hard for God to handle(Jeremiah 32:27).

I pray for you today, because there is yet a balm of healing in Gilead, may the healing virtue flow in your direction today, causing every pain in your life and marriage to dry up from its root, in Jesus’ name. God’s mercy will prevail in your home; you will not be a victim of devil’s onslaught in Jesus mighty name.
Prayerlessness is one of the points of entry in a home, through which the devil releases his missiles. The saying is very true- a family that prays together stays together. When was the last time you and your spouse joined hands together to pray in agreement???

1 Peter 5:8-9 says: Be sober, be vigilant ; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour. Whom resist steadfast in the faith, knowing that the same afflictions are accomplished in your brethren that are in the world. The bond of unity is strengthened on the altar of prayer. Now is the time for the Christian home to put in all efforts to steadfastly, consistently and prayerfully resist the evil one.

Wordless living is also a weak point in most families, today. You need to create the time for your family to study the word of God in the home. As you go to church regularly, the fact still remains that you need to share the Word of God in your home regularly.

In the course of counselling couples who resort to divorce, it has been noted that the loophole of not studying the Word together created entrance for the devil in such families. It is too dangerous for you not to have time together with your spouse in your home, whereby you expound and share the word, for your nourishment. Remember a threefold cord is not easily broken. For more emphasis on this truth, Eccl 4:12 says: and if one prevail against him, two shall withstand him; and a threefold cord is not quickly broken.

In order to enjoy a hitch-free marriage, you need to be born again. You get born again by confessing your sins and accepting Jesus as your Lord and Saviour. If you are set for it, please say this prayer:
"Lord Jesus, I come to You today, forgive me my sins, wash me in Your precious blood, come and dwell in my heart and be my Lord and personal saviour. Thank You for saving me for I know that I am now born again".

Congratulations and welcome to the family of God. From henceforth, I see a new you emerging, every failure of the past are turned to miracles in your life, and you begin to surmount all the challenges in your study, career, health, and family in Jesus Mighty name. Amen!
